Facebook is one of my most frequently-used applications on iPhone. The interface is simply great. Sometimes, I find is even better than the web counterpart. The only complaint is its instability. It’s not uncommon to experience application crash and sometimes, the page just fails to sync. Today, Facebook updated its iPhone application to v2.1 with lots of bug fixes and stability improvement:
- Fewer Crashes
- Timestamps are now correct for all timezones
- The sync takes a much shorter time
- Scrolls to the newest message in an Inbox thread
- Loads longer Inbox threads faster
- Eliminates friend duplicates
- Fixs bugs that caused pages to go blank
Full access to Inbox & People Search
Full access to your Inbox, sent and update folder is now available. And people search is also integrated in iPhone version of Facebook.
Photo captioning & tagging
Photo tagging is probably another demanding feature. And now, it’s well-integrated with iPhone. To tag a photo, you have to use two fingers. Keep one finger pressed down on the photo and then touch anywhere of the photo with another finger. You can also add caption to a photo (One finger is enough) and easy upload to Facebook.
Full news feed, Notification & friend requests
As you launch the new version of Facebook, the first thing impressed me is the user interface. It’s impressive and looks like regular facebook. You can now access the full news feed. What’s more is, you can view and add comments directly by just tapping on the bubble (in green) next to the message. It’ll zoom out an editable for you to add comment. The user experience is really great. Under news feed, you’ll find a scrollable menu bar that lets you select different type of news feed.
Previously, two crucial features that were left out are notification and friend request. Now, you can find them in the new version of Facebook iPhone application. Really cool and make this application more useful!
The update is now available at App Store. You can download it for free on iPhone or via iTunes link here.
