Version: 1.0
Size: 0.3 MB
Compatible with iPhone and iPod Touch and requires iPhone 2.0 Software Update. Its available at App Store for $0.99 (Special Offer). VLC is a great, free and popular media player that is particularly good at handling almost any file format. VLC Remote lets you sit back and let it handle the movies while you control things from your easy chair. It is a joy to use - no more reaching for the mouse when I want to pause my TV, select the next episode, or play some different music.
Update 2: Apple have approved VLC Remote Free. If you have any concerns about setup, then try the free version first.
Update 1: Still waiting for Apple to approve version 1.1 which fixes two bugs:
1) Windows users are unable to select files and can only use pause, play, volume etc. (Mac and Linux users will not have this problem)
2) Crash when connecting to some large networks like college/work networks (normal home networks are fine)
It has been over a week since I uploaded the update, so hopefully it will be approved soon.
Users have also reported problems finding the setup link. I suspect they were typing the link assuming it was not case sensitive, so have linked various upper and lower case links.
You can check it at:
